This honeycomb ルドラクシャ マーラー has been in ブレイクイン for a year and a half, and the color is absolutely beautiful now

Result after a year and a half

Having played with ルドラクシャ for so long, the one I feel most attached to is the マーラー in my hands. I had nothing to do today, so I took it out and snapped a few photos to show everyone its current state.

I got this マーラー a few years ago. At the time, it was just an ordinary yellow-skin ルドラクシャ(大玉) with decent 紋様 and good density—nothing particularly outstanding. I didn't expect that after ブレイクイン for so long, its current color and パティナ would be far better than I anticipated.

When the new seeds first arrived, the color was very light and they felt astringent to the touch. I didn't know any better at the time and thought just doing the ブレイクイン more would be enough. After a week with no change, I even thought there was something wrong with the seeds.

Later, I read through many posts and finally figured out that the initial prep wasn't done cleanly; アルカリ析出 and flesh residue were still stuck to the surface. So I switched back to a stiff-bristle brush, brushing for 20 minutes a day for about a month. I cleaned out all the dirt in the 紋様, and the surface of the seeds slowly developed a warm, matte finish.

After that, it was just daily ブレイクイン. For the first three months, I made sure to brush a lot; once it got a 光沢, I focused more on ブレイクイン. After about half a year, the color started to show, slowly changing from pale yellow to light brown, and the luster became more and more natural.

Current state

Now the color of this ルドラクシャ マーラー is deep red, translucent and bright, with a thick パティナ and a strong jade-like quality. Looking at it in the sunlight, every seed radiates a warm luster. The 龍脊 is translucent, the valleys are slightly darker, and the three-dimensional feel of the 紋様 is particularly strong. It feels heavy and substantial in the hand, with a great tactile feel.

A fellow enthusiast saw the photos I posted and messaged me privately to ask if they were artificially aged. I sent him the photos from when I first got them, and only then did he stop talking. These kinds of misunderstandings happen often; I'm used to it.

Looking back at the ブレイクイン over the past two years, there's really no special secret—just patience. Breaking-in (パティナ工程) and brushing a bit every day, not rushing or overthinking it. When I ran into problems, I looked up information and found ways to solve them, never giving up. Over time, the マーラー will naturally reward you.

Summary

When it comes to playing with マーラーs, in the end, you're not playing with the マーラー, but cultivating your own state of mind. You can't rush it, and you can't be lazy. Those 20 minutes every day, watching the seeds slowly change, your mind also slowly settles down.

I'll leave the photos of this マーラー here for now; I'll update if there are new changes. Thanks to everyone who read this far, see you in the next post.
