2-year change record

Some fellow players said they wanted to see real ブレイクイン changes, not internet pics. So I took pictures of the process of my own マーラー（数珠） from new to now, the pictures are all below.

I got this マーラー（数珠） a few years ago. At that time, it was just an ordinary yellow-skin ルドラクシャ（大玉）, the 紋様 was okay, the density was not bad, nothing particularly outstanding. I didn't expect that after ブレイクイン for so long, the current color and パティナ are much better than I expected.

When I first got it, the color of the ビーズ was light, the surface was dry, without a bit of luster. At that time, I didn't know anything, just grabbed it and started ブレイクイン. After a week, I found the color didn't change much, but instead turned dark, I was quite unsure at the time.

Later I realized I was too eager to start, the residue on the surface wasn't cleaned off. I re-prepped it, dry brushing with a stiff brush for a month, brushing thoroughly every day, brushing out all the residue deep in the 紋様, at this time the ビーズ felt different to the touch.

After prepping, I followed a normal rhythm, brushing more and ブレイクイン less for the first three months, then reversed after getting a 光沢. Around half a year, the color deepened, the surface luster became more moist, no need to deliberately pursue any effect.

How it looks now

Now the color of this ルドラクシャ is dark red, translucent, the パティナ is very thick, with a strong jade-like 風合い. Looking in the sunlight, every bead exudes a warm luster, the 龍脊 is translucent, the color in the valleys is slightly darker, the three-dimensional feel of the 紋様 is particularly strong. It feels heavy in the hand, the tactile feel is exceptionally good.

A friend said this マーラー（数珠） looks redder than his 3-year one, asking me for the secret. There's really no secret, just don't be lazy, don't apply oil, don't mess around blindly.

Looking back at this 2-year ブレイクイン, there's actually no special secret, just patience. Breaking-in (パティナ工程) and brushing a bit every day, not rushing, not messing around. If you encounter problems, look up info and find ways to solve them, don't give up. Over time, the マーラー（数珠） will naturally reward you.

Closing words

No need to pursue any specific Oxford red or chicken-fat yellow, every bead has its own color. Turning red early isn't necessarily good, turning red late isn't necessarily bad, naturally changing colors are the most enduring.
