Appreciation of a 4-year-old マーラー（数珠）

This マーラー（数珠） in my hand was picked out from a pile of seeds back then. I never expected it to turn out like this after ブレイクイン. Today I took a set of photos and will briefly talk about my ブレイクイン experience over the past few years.

I acquired this マーラー（数珠） a few years ago. At that time, it was just an ordinary yellow-skin ルドラクシャ（大玉） with decent 紋様 and good density, nothing particularly outstanding. I didn't expect that after ブレイクイン for so long, its current color and パティナ are much better than I anticipated.

When the new seeds just arrived, the color was very light and they felt astringent to the touch. At that time, I didn't know better and thought just ブレイクイン more would be enough. After a week of ブレイクイン with no change, I even thought there was a problem with the seeds.

Later I realized I was too eager to start handling it, and the surface debris wasn't cleaned thoroughly. I re-prepped it by dry brushing with a stiff brush for a month, brushing thoroughly every day to clean out the residue deep in the 紋様. At this point, the seeds felt completely different to the touch.

After the prep work, it entered the normal ブレイクイン period. For the first three months, brushing was the main focus and ブレイクイン was supplementary: brushing for twenty minutes and ブレイクイン for ten minutes every day. After about three months, it achieved a 光沢 with a thin luster on the surface, and at this point, I could switch to more ブレイクイン and less brushing. After half a year, the color noticeably deepened, and the luster became increasingly moist.

Current appearance

Now the color of this ルドラクシャ マーラー（数珠） is dark red, translucent and bright, with a very thick パティナ and a strong jade-like 風合い. Under the sunlight, every seed exudes a warm and moist luster. The 龍脊 is translucent, the color in the valleys is slightly darker, and the three-dimensional feel of the 紋様 is particularly strong. It feels heavy in the hand, and the tactile sensation is excellent.

A friend said this マーラー（数珠） looks redder than his 3-year-old one and asked for my secret. There really is no secret: just don't be lazy, don't apply oil, and don't mess around unnecessarily.

Looking back at the ブレイクイン over the past two years, there is actually no special secret, just patience. Breaking-in (パティナ工程) and brushing a little every day, without rushing or messing around. When encountering problems, I look up information and find ways to solve them, never giving up. Over time, the マーラー（数珠） will naturally reward you.

Random thoughts on playing with マーラー（数珠）

Having written so much, the core is just one sentence: mess around less, brush more, and don't apply oil. The most common mistake beginners make is listening to too many folk remedies, ultimately ruining perfectly good seeds during ブレイクイン.
