Custom Processing

Customization can be simple or complex—the key is to state your requirements clearly. Today I'll go over the common questions, so next time we chat you can just refer to this post.

Customizing a Rudraksha mala can be complex or simple—the key is finding the right person and stating your requirements clearly. I usually confirm a few details with the customer first, then start selecting seeds and stringing the mala. The whole process usually takes five to seven days.

Rudraksha Custom Processing Guide

Communicating your requirements first is essential. Wrist size, texture preferences, budget range, skin color and bead shape—these all need to be confirmed before work begins. Reference photos are best; if you don't have any, I'll send a few samples for you to choose from.

Once the requirements are set, I start selecting seeds—picking out seeds from a batch of raw seeds with similar size, shape, texture, and skin color. This step takes the most time, usually three to five days. While selecting, I'll take photos for you to review, and we proceed after your confirmation.

The third step is drilling and stringing. After the seeds are selected, they're drilled, then strung according to your wrist size, adjusting the tightness and adding accessories. Finally, after a check to confirm everything is fine, it's ready to ship. Before shipping, I'll take photos and videos of the finished product for the customer to confirm, and ship only after the customer is satisfied.

Customization Notes

There are a few things to note when customizing. First, measure your wrist size accurately—wrap a soft tape measure around the thickest part of your wrist, not too tight and not too loose. Second, state your budget clearly in advance. Seed quality varies greatly at different price points, so a clear budget helps me recommend suitable options.

Third, be clear about your texture preferences. Honeycomb, double dragon-ridge, plum blossom, and coiled dragon each have their own characteristics—state clearly which style you prefer. Fourth, mention any accessory needs in advance. Spacer beads, guru beads, and back pendants can all be added, and different accessories make a big difference in the final look.

Fifth, if the size doesn't fit after customization, one free adjustment is available, so try it on when you receive it and contact me promptly if it doesn't fit. Sixth, custom malas generally don't support returns or exchanges, since they're made to individual requirements—so think it through carefully before placing an order.

Afterword

That's really all there is to customizing a Rudraksha mala: communicate your requirements clearly, wait patiently for seed selection, and finally receive a mala that fits your hand perfectly. Although it's a bit more expensive and slower than buying ready-made, the quality and fit are guaranteed, and each mala is one of a kind.
