Selecting Rudraksha (small) with short stubby shape, thick meaty texture and carefully picked seeds
This string of Rudraksha was recently selected for a customer. I helped the customer pick a string of Rudraksha (small) with short stubby shape and thick meaty texture. The customer had watched several strings in the live stream before. Either the price was inflated or the quality of the seeds was average. Introduced by a friend, he found me and asked me to help him pick a satisfactory one.
I first confirmed the customer's requirements. The size was 20mm, liked Rudraksha (small) with short stubby shape and thick meaty texture, and the budget was around two thousand. Usually, it was mainly for wearing and occasionally breaking-in (patina process). After confirming the requirements, I started looking for seeds. I contacted several regular suppliers and looked at three batches of seeds in total.

The whole process of selecting Rudraksha (small) with short stubby shape and thick meaty texture for the customer
The process of selecting seeds is actually quite time-consuming. The first step is to measure the size, and those between 19.8 and 20.2mm are kept; the second step is to check the density and skin color, those that are light and float are not taken, and those with shaded or mottled skin are not taken; the third step is to check the shape, the height of the short stubby shape is below 18mm; the fourth step is to check the texture, the thick meaty texture should be plump and the style of each seed should be similar.
It took three days to select fourteen seeds from more than two hundred seeds. Twelve were used as the main string and two as spare seeds. For the fourteen selected seeds, the size, shape, texture and color of each seed are very uniform. They feel heavy in the hand and have good density.
After the seeds are selected, start drilling holes and stringing them. Use a 1.5mm drill bit and slow down the rotation speed. Drill each seed slowly to avoid cracking. When stringing, the direction of each seed is the same, the front side faces outwards, and the dragon-ridge (ridge line) direction is unified. It looks neat when viewed from all angles. After stringing and trying it on, the customer's wrist circumference is 17.5cm. Twelve 20mm seeds plus the Buddha head are just right.

Finished product effect and customer feedback
After stringing, I sent it to the customer. He looked at it over and over again and was very satisfied. He said that those he saw in the live stream before either had inconsistent sizes or uneven texture depths, and the prices were also high. The string I picked was carefully selected and each one was very uniform, much better than those in the live stream.
Actually, helping customers select strings is like this. It takes time and is tiring for the eyes, but the strings selected make the customers comfortable to wear and happy to look at. For this kind of cultural relics, the most important thing is to be conscientious. If you are conscientious towards it, it will give you something in return.
A little insight
If any friends also want to pick a string of Rudraksha, it is recommended to be patient and not rush. Compare more and look more. The seeds selected will not be bad. For this kind of cultural relics, the process of playing with them is what matters. You can't be impatient.
Hope everyone can pick a string that satisfies them and enjoy the process of breaking-in (patina process).
